Tattooed Hearts by David Avila

Tattooed Hearts
By David Avila

speak something on the ears who you once knew
whose quills and claws and fur are all here
away I’ve gone to see the world unchanged
on your heart noticing deeper tattoos
shaking off dust that sheds the old sphere
bringing its own power rearranged

an unlocked snappy turn on a dime’s heel
wrestling with mind without renewed fear
to see through the illusion of your shame
trying more than before just to stay steeled
key change
