The Importance of Immersing in Big Minds' Works for Deep Understanding

I’m thinking about this idea I once heard that it really takes a lot (in such as money and blood sweat and tears and so on) to train under big minds. That is, to study and examine absorbing osmotically into the deepest parts of you and your body the works of some of the biggest minds you can get to. Now that’s not to say that the biggest minds you can get to are the biggest minds out there, but it is to say that the biggest minds you can get to will be big enough that you have to work for it.

It comes to mind for me that I hear kids today, children for all intents and purposes, talking about “big brain” this and “big brain” that in connection with playing a video game and doing something out of the ordinary or something so deep in thought that no one could have predicted that move. I’m here making the argument that any thought from inside of a game is coming out of a model where thinking … real thinking … doesn’t actually play a part on the level that truly big minds, the ones I'm speaking to, play on, i.e.: the models much larger and deeper than any video game could get to or really reach in terms of how they are using that word.

So here I make the distinction between what I myself say when I say big mind or big brains ... and what I hear the world saying when it says big mind or big brains. When I say big minds and the study it takes to go into these models and to try and wrap your mind around them, to really take them in and all they have into account for further growth, it’s something that does NOT happen overnight and isn’t a one off move you can make to making yourself look good.

You take the time to reach into these models and pull out what you can and what you can get from it day in and day out, studying, amplifying, entrusting yourself to these ideas even if it’s only for a moment and even with the possibility of not knowing what’s on the other side of what you’re peering into yet … and in the gazing into these ideas and understandings, new thinking I think can emerge that wasn’t before possible or yet possible and takes you so far outside of or beyond the boundaries of any video game that I think it's safe to say that "the big brains of tiny minds are still tiny in comparison to the thought that has come out of these separate models".

Now, I’m not saying video games are bad ... far from it. I myself like and play and engage with and have engaged with video games for a very long time. I’m just trying to point to the size and the magnitude of these outside models I’m speaking to, these giants of men worth delving into, and what they have on offer, the gold that is there for those with eyes to see, for the people who are really able to dig into them and see for themselves all that's inside.
