Collecting Dust by David Avila
Collecting Dust
By David Avila
to not meet me where I am but to keep flying
why’ve you come singing that song
worse yet I find myself unafraid to lose
do they not keep life interested in me
so many try and sing to me
to cross one’s mind in such a fortified world
you know not this man inside
to not meet me where I am but to keep flying
I break loose with the mind who wanders
lift me from the heavens with stolen fruit
to lack such taste you so desire
why’ve you come singing that song
whose evergreen forest am I in now
for life lives here still and runs away with me
no payment can or will close the gap
worse yet I find myself unafraid to lose
I listen as the heartbeat blossoms
there is a full swing in bloom
betraying nothing but that smile
do they not keep life interested in me
